Full STEAM ahead!

In very exciting news, on May 30 we held an opening ceremony for our beautiful new STEAM Centre! Our local MP Kat Theophanous spoke and Principal Michael Keenan returned to make a short speech for the occasion as well. It was great to see a large number of families in attendance for the event and it was great to be able to take a tour of the new building. What an amazing difference for staff and students to have such state of the art facilities! The sound-proofing is excellent, so classes are much quieter to promote a better learning environment. The art rooms are spacious and light, the science rooms have up to date equipment and the commercial kitchen is already producing some amazing food... as attendees at the event found out!

It's been a long journey to get to this point, and the Thornbury Redevelopment Group would like to thank our community for your support in keeping the need for these new buildings front of mind for Departmental decision-makers!

After a short period of enjoying the new building, we'll be firing up to see if we can get some funding for stages 3 and 4 to finish the master plan and make Thornbury High School a truly top of the line school environment, to match the quality of learning we already foster.

If you haven't had a tour of the STEAM Centre yet, you can see a little video that gives a good idea of the flow here.
