PROJECT OVERVIEW
The Thornbury High School Redevelopment Project is an exciting opportunity to re-imagine our school campus, expand learning opportunities for our students and provide the local community with access to first-class learning, sporting and performance facilities.
Our lobbying has had some success, with nearly $20 million so far delivered for the first two stages: stage one was a new gymnasium and performing arts centre, completed in early 2020, and stage two was for a new STEAM Centre which opened early in Term 2 for students, and was officially opened on May 30 by Kat Theophanous.
We take this opportunity to thank Kat Theophanous for her excellent advocacy and promotion of our submission for the funding of stage 2. We look forward to working with Kat and the Andrews State Government to get the final funding needed to bring the rest of our school up to modern standards.

THE BENEFITS
The current redevelopment plan includes a number of new buildings and facilities which will
benefit our students, as well as the community in multiple ways.
Performing Arts, Music Centre and Food Technology Centre
-
New performance facilities where students can develop their skills and confidence and unite across year levels in whole school productions. Also connects the school with the wider community, especially local primary schools whose students already participate in Thornbury High musicals.
-
A new hub for the School's food technology program that gives students 'real life' opportunities in hospitality and events management.
-
A modern, professional venue to celebrate achievement and effort which supports the Schools' culture of aspiration and excellence.
-
A facility that will support the performing arts community of the inner north and promote school - community collaborative arts projects.
Gymnasium
-
A multi-purpose indoor space that promotes health, fitness, teamwork and sporting excellence to our students regardless of the weather conditions.
-
A state-of-the-art facility for the greater community of the inner north.
Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths (STEAM) Centre
-
A new STEAM Centre provides students with an appropriate learning environment for a creative knowledge and technology focussed economy.
-
Supports a STEAM program that helps to bridge the gender and cultural gaps sometimes found in mathematics and science education, industry and research, through embedding the creative arts in the same learning spaces.
-
Provides local primary schools with a modern venue to conduct science and technology experiences.
Refurbished Learning Centres
-
New modern learning spaces support teacher practice and student engagement across all learning areas – an environment that says to our students "you are worthy of the best" will encourage them to strive for their best.
