VCE - Years 11 & 12

Outstanding VCE and VCAL results at Thornbury High for 2010

 

The School offers a wide range of subjects and programs to suit students’ learning needs. The programs cover Science/Maths, Humanities, Business, Arts and Technology. Year 11 students have the option of taking year 12 subjects to enhance their opportunities for tertiary entrance.

 

Victorian Certificate of Education

 

  • 100% of students passed VCE

  • An average Median study score of 29 for the past 3 years

  • 7 students achieved a study score of 40 or more

  • 90% of students were offered their 1st, 2nd or 3rd preference through VTAC

Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning is our alternative program at year 11 and 12 with 100% of students going onto TAFE, apprenticeships or the workplace

We monitor and support students in the following ways:

 

  • Electronic attendance rolls are marked for every class and parents notified within 24 hours of absences

  • All students have a careers plan developed in year 10 and meet with the Careers/Pathways advisors at least twice a year

  • Students at year 10 and 11 complete a comprehensive study skills program

  • Students receive a progress report and an opportunity for parent interview at the end of every term
